Brewery story
About Indie Rabble
Indie Rabble Brewing Co was founded in Windsor, Berkshire in 2023 by Naomi and Dave Hayward, the owners of independent craft beer business A Hoppy Place. They were joined by experienced brewer Alex Rowlands and Alison Steele, bringing together a team with backgrounds spanning brewing, hospitality, sales and manufacturing. The brewery was created as a new home for the community that had grown around A Hoppy Place and a shared love of independent beer, music and good times.
At the heart of the brewery is a 20-hectolitre electric brewhouse installed beneath the railway arches on Alma Road in Windsor. From the outset, Indie Rabble set out to brew a diverse range of beers with particular attention to German-influenced lagers, hazy and bright pale ales, kettle sours and stouts. Experimentation is an important part of its approach, with collaborations playing a prominent role from the brewery's launch and allowing the team to work with breweries both within Berkshire and further afield.
The Indie Rabble name reflects the community behind the brewery. Dave and Naomi found many of their closest friendships through the beer scene they helped build in Windsor, united by interests including punk, rock and metal music as well as independent beer. That connection between beer, music and community became central to Indie Rabble, with its brewery and taproom designed not simply as a place to make beer but as a home for its own growing 'rabble'.
Today, the brewery and taproom form part of Windsor's growing Beer Mile, operating from railway arches close to Windsor & Eton Central Station and Windsor Castle. The taproom offers 12 lines of independent beer alongside cider, spirits, alcohol-free drinks and other locally selected options, with street food, live events and brewery tours adding to its community focus. Indie Rabble remains proudly independent and is a member of the Society of Independent Brewers and Associates.
