Kirkstall Brewery was established in Leeds in 2011, drawing inspiration from the city's long brewing heritage and modern American craft beer. Now based at a state-of-the-art brewery on Kirkstall Road, it produces a broad range of cask, keg and packaged beers, combining traditional Yorkshire brewing with bold, hop-forward styles.
Brewery story
Kirkstall Brewery was established in Leeds in 2011, close to the site of the original Kirkstall Brewery and drawing inspiration from the brewing heritage of nearby Kirkstall Abbey. Its approach also reflects modern American craft beer, following earlier work importing breweries including Sierra Nevada to the UK.
In 2017, Kirkstall moved to a new brewery on Kirkstall Road, incorporating a 60-barrel plant, malting facilities and a canning line. The business expanded further with the former Naylor's Brewery site at Cross Hills in 2022 and began brewing former Leeds Brewery beers in 2023.
Today Kirkstall produces traditional Yorkshire-inspired beers alongside modern, hop-forward styles. Its Leeds brewery includes the Kirkstall Taproom & Kitchen, serving brewery-fresh beer and food, while expert-led brewery tours offer a look behind the scenes followed by a guided tasting.
