Rooster's Brewing Co

Rooster's Brewing Co. was founded by Sean Franklin in 1993 and quickly developed a reputation for doing things differently. At a time when traditional British beer dominated, the brewery embraced hops from the US and other New World growing regions, using their flavour and aroma to create distinctive pale ales. Yankee became its flagship and helped establish the style for which Rooster's became known.

That early use of New World hops made Rooster's one of the pioneering British breweries in the development of modern hop-forward pale ale. Its beers went on to collect awards at home and internationally, while the brewery maintained a focus on producing balanced and approachable beer rather than pursuing intensity for its own sake.

More than three decades later, Rooster's remains an independent, family-owned brewery, with Tom and Oliver Fozard continuing its development. Production has grown to around 200 barrels a week, spanning cask, keg and cans, with pale ales remaining central to the range alongside beers exploring different styles, ingredients and flavours.

Rooster's current home at Hornbeam Park in Harrogate combines production with an onsite taproom, bringing drinkers close to where the beer is made. Sixteen cask and keg lines showcase the brewery's beers, while a rotating street-food kitchen has helped make the taproom a destination in its own right.
