Award-winning Yorkshire brewery founded in 2018 in a Grade II-listed former tramshed in Saltaire. SALT combines the area's industrial brewing heritage with modern craft beer, producing a core range of hop-forward beers alongside regularly changing lagers, sours, stouts and collaborations.
Brewery story
SALT was founded in 2018 by Jamie Lawson with the idea of bringing together Yorkshire's brewing heritage and the more progressive approach of modern craft beer. Its name pays tribute to industrialist Sir Titus Salt, whose model village of Saltaire provides the brewery with both its home and inspiration.
The brewery was established inside a Grade II-listed Edwardian tramshed, where historic surroundings contrast with a modern 200-hectolitre brewhouse. SALT is a sister company to Ossett Brewery, drawing on Ossett's brewing experience while developing its own identity around contemporary styles, recipes and ingredients.
Its core beers include Jute Session IPA, Huckaback NEIPA and the award-winning IKAT DDH DIPA, complemented by changing sours, lagers, stouts and collaborations. SALT has also expanded beyond brewing with a growing collection of branded bars and venues across Yorkshire and London.
